The Living End

A Poem by K. Brendi Poppel

I am finished for today

Another rainbow come my way

Another beauty, another song

Another dance… it won’t be long…

A withered leaf falls from the tree

An nourishes the land for thee

A blossom fills and bursts her cup

A fragrant rose to lift us up.

For death to living we all become

Alive,  …

and once our song is sung

We grow again, and laugh and die

Til dewdrops fall from in the sky.

They sparkle-shimmer, nourish us

Ashes-to-ashes, dust-to-dust.

And from the earth we all do grow

A tree,…

with outstretched hands does know

The song of seasons, the way of man

And that is how it all began.
